The package contains a not needed power lead, bumping up the price. The suction mounting fixture is really the worst part of Tom Tom's GPS offering. The original failed and I was forced to buy another - how long before this one goes the same way. It was a good job it was not needed as it did not work. A rip off from Tom Tom.
It's an elegantly designed holder that fits perfectly with myTomTom GO 720 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator. The only trouble is it doesn't stick to the windshield in very hot or very cold weather. It unfortunately dropped from my windshield as I was traveling at 70 miles an hours at night. It tumbles into my lap, startles me and turns off just when I need to know which direction on the upcoming exit.
Water and Petroleum jelly was applied (as suggested by TomTom Customer Reps) but that did not help much either and even a flat surface other than my dashboard was unable to hold the unit. I will probably attach a video review as well for this but this mount does not do the job especially not in cold weather. The issue here is simple there is no locking mechanism unlike some of their other mounts and the unit weighs a lot more than what the mount is able to handle as it is basically just an extension of a suction cup and so the unit falls off fairly quickly. I have been through three of these mounts and they are absolutely useless. The suction does not last longer than a few minutes and it falls even faster if you attach the GPS unit. Interestingly enough TomTom does not seem to think there is an issue with the mount. Yup I am sure it is just my imagination :)
I purchased this item for my TomTom GO730. I made sure the suction cup was clean but it still does not stick most of the time. This mount works great when it decides to actually stick. I have tried it in a few different cars just to make sure it wasn't something with my windsheild. It's very annoying to have your GPS unit decide to fall off the windsheild while you are driving. I've stopped using it since im sure after falling so many times it would eventually damage my TomTom
Plain and simple, this mount doesn't work. It drops the unit constantly. Skip it.
